
Panel heating issues have long been a paramount concern for industries relying on electrical systems. Fan Monitoring Devices represent a breakthrough in the field of electrical panel management. Fan Monitoring Devices operates on a closed-loop feedback system. The temperature sensors that come along with CFTDPR4, continuously sense the temperature of the electrical panel and this data is then fed to the fan monitoring device. This device is built with microprocessor-based technology which records the data which is further fed into the device's control unit.

In Redundant Fan Mode there are two fans connected at the output. Fan 1 is called the primary fan and Fan 2 is called as the redundant fan. In normal conditions, the primary fan runs continuously and if there is any fault in this primary fan and if the current to feed to the fan is below the configured value, then the fault relay in the monitoring device is actuated. This abnormality is called “FAN FAULT” which is also indicated on the monitoring device. On detection of “FAN FAULT” the device then turns “ON” the redundant FAN.

In Standard 2 Fan Mode both the fans connected at the output are primary fans. Both these primary fans run continuously. If due to any abnormality, any one of the fans shuts down the temperature inside the panel starts to rise. This abnormality is called “FAN FAULT” and "TEMPERATURE FAULT” which is also indicated on the monitoring device. Since in FAN 2 Mode, there is no option for redundancy. The fault is communicated by relay signal only which will be also indicated with a red light on the device.

In Redundant 2 + 2 Fan mode, there are 4 Fans connected at the output of the Fan Monitoring System. Out of 4 fans, 2 fans are configured to work as primary fans i.e. fan1 and fan2 and the remaining two fans fan3 and fan4 are configured to work as redundant fans. When there is a fault in fan1 or fan2 fan the fan fault relay is actuated and the relay changes from NC (Normally Close) to NO (Normally Open) and the Fault indication LED turns RED.

Standard 4 Fan Mode works similarly to Standard 2 Fan Mode, in this mode all 4 Fans are running continuously and there is no Fan for redundancy. Hence when the fault occurs in any one or more of the fans the temperature in the panel rises and the monitoring device indicates this as a FAN and TEMPERATURE FAULT. In addition to 4 Modes mentioned above, there are 27 Programmable settings in the fan monitoring system with the help of which the user can configure the fan monitoring system as per convenience.
